THE GUILD OF FRIENDSHIP

The Guild was formed over 50 years ago by Mrs Minette Hamilton who was the wife of the Minister, Rev. J. Hamilton. It is a visiting service for members of the congregation who are unable to attend Church, who are house bound, who are unwell and who live alone.

These people are entitled to have regular news concerning the Church, and for them and for members in hospitals and nursing homes, visits from a Guild visitor are of enormous importance.

Frequency of visits depends entirely on the visitor and the member of congregation, some are happy to have many visits a year and others are content to have less, and what ever is discussed in conversation is confidential at all times. The welfare of members of the congregation is very much the concern of the Guild and the Minister is kept informed of changes of circumstance when ever possible.

At present there are 34 visitors in the Guild who visit around 100 members of the congregation, occasionally taking flowers on visits and small gifts at Christmas time.
